Daily Reading: Revelation 7
And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:10, NIV)
Notice the emotion of this passage. From the beginning of time, God has desired to be with us. He created a universe to explore, designed a world to live in, and molded a people to share it with. But because of our selfishness, we rejected it. So God, in his extravagant love, provided a second chance for us all. He sent his only Son to bear our sin and judgment. All he asks is that we acknowledge our part in the process of redemption—that we are sinners who are in need of a savior, Jesus Christ—and then live our lives in the model Jesus provided us. God has been patiently waiting and preparing for this moment, when all have been given an opportunity to accept his love, and it has finally come.
I’d like to ask you to read this passage one more time and insert those you’ve been praying for to accept Christ in the place of those clothed in white robes. Insert your friends, your family, your neighbors. Can you see them? All of the cultivating, planting, watering, and harvesting is building up to a celebration recognizing the saving work of Jesus. This is why we still have breath today—our work isn’t finished.
God is the only one who saves. God has also allowed us to partner with him in the salvation process through cultivating, planting, watering, and harvesting. Jesus demonstrated how it’s done. Let’s encourage one another to take up our cross each day and participate likewise. Let’s start today… Can you see them?
Grace and peace,
