So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. –Eph. 4:11-16

Good morning! (Or evening, depending on when you do your devotional time. Either is fine, but do it. Seriously.)

Jesus really created a beautiful piece of art when He created the church, and each and every one of you reading this is a beautiful facet to His design.

The more we grow in our knowledge and understanding, the better equipped we are to extinguish the lies of the enemy. Pastor Greg was taking a poll during a sermon a while ago about what keeps us from sharing the Gospel, and the answer that struck me hardest was, “They know their lie better than I know my truth.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being in that position. I want to be knowledgeable and wise enough to fight those battles and bring victories to the Kingdom of God. Growth takes time and intentional work. Thankfully, Abundant Life has been truly blessed with a pastoral staff, elders, and small group leaders who have an abundance of knowledge at our disposal! (Pun intended.)

We serve a mighty and awesome God. It’s about time that we take this job seriously and do the work that we are commanded to do. Speak the truth in love and do your part to grow and build this amazing thing called The Church. Let’s continue to grow together and work hard to be a light to the Silicon Valley!

Be Blessed,

Elise S.

  1. Good word. And well stated. You are a blessing. We should all be about our Father’s work that He assigned to us.

Such a timely message. Pastor Glen Davis spoke on the exact topic yesterday. The Holy Spirit at work.
