And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.  –Ephesians 1:22-23

As a kid growing up in Taiwan, it was not unusual to see an idol worship parade on the street, illustrated with various self-afflicting ritual acts by its temple mediums. It always felt scary to me as a kid watching those “gods” pass by. Going to church, however, was a completely opposite experience. Singing hymns and hearing the word of God always left me with peace and gave me hope knowing that God loves me completely. As a child, I gave my heart to Jesus at an early age. Little did I know that growing up in such a diverse spiritual atmosphere would help me learn the power in the name of Jesus.

And God placed all things under his feet….” I saw this demonstrated dramatically as I grew older and watched spiritually distraught people who were brought to church be set free from demonic oppression and sometimes sickness. I understood that “Church” is not a building but a group of people who carried a mission to represent God in the city where I lived. We must understand that God has chosen nothing else to represent Himself on this earth but His Church. We, the Church, are to represent the fullness of Him, knowing the authority we carry on this earth, so that we can be His body to carry out the great commission until His return.

  3. “We must understand that God has chosen nothing else to represent Himself on this earth but His Church.”

A very profound sentence… thanks for the reminder that for each of us as believers, we are saved on purpose, FOR a purpose (besides being the best child of God that we can be). Thanks Angela…
